Abstract

Climate change poses a severe threat to agricultural productivity, particularly in developing countries, leading to food insecurity and increased household vulnerability. Understanding the limited adaptive capacities of rural populations and evaluating the effectiveness of policy interventions is crucial for building resilience against climate-induced agricultural shocks. This research aims to investigate how climate-induced agricultural shocks (e.g., high temperatures) impact household food security and economic well-being in rural emerging economies, and what types of policy interventions (e.g., social safety nets, agricultural support programs) are most effective in enhancing the adaptive capacity and resilience of vulnerable households. Quasi-experimental designs, econometric analysis, and qualitative fieldwork could provide empirical evidence. This research would contribute to development economics and climate economics by providing empirical evidence on the micro-level impacts of climate change and the efficacy of specific policy responses, offering practical guidance for governments and international organizations.
